About Don Jusko (1941 – 2016)
“I came to Maui because it's one of the most beautiful and paintable locations on earth", says acrylic artist Don Jusko. "I've been painting here for 27 years now. It has forests, mountains, rivers, old buildings, and ocean scenes - everything one could ever want to paint". Jusko points out a bonus: "The weather is great."
Real Color Wheel Comments from Don
“An original color wheel that, for the first time ever, has opposing colors that mix to a neutral dark. Opposing colors also include the three colors, making a triad. Thirty-six degrees and colors make this a real color wheel that includes all pigments. It is very useful for anyone working with color or in color-related fields. djusko@realcolorwheel.com”
Don was a treasure to Dan’s Green House and a big part of our family beginning in 1974, before we officially opened our doors in 1976. He painted elaborate murals inside the barn (shop), created all of our price signage, and crafted beautiful signs and illustrations of the birds and animals we had in-house. The owners of Dan’s Green House, Dan and Naomi Malone, were very close to Don and considered him family (Ohana). They remained close for nearly 40 years, until his passing in 2016.
Rest in peace, Don. Your creativity, kindness, and legacy live on at Dan’s Green House. We love you.
